First Street Initiative

The City of Smithville, the Historic Preservation/Design Standards Advisory Committee, and the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce invite downtown business owners, building owners, and interested citizens to attend an important community conversation focused on the future of downtown Smithville.

The “First Street Initiative” workshop will explore the development of a Main Street Program using the First Street Initiative framework and include a discussion regarding the City of Smithville’s proposed “Derelict Buildings Ordinance.” This collaborative event is designed to encourage community engagement, preservation efforts, economic vitality, and thoughtful planning for the future of downtown Smithville.
